What a difference a DJ makes - favourite dance hits of the year.
I think we all know just what a difference a DJ can make to a wedding – sadly we have all probably seen an empty dance floor at some point. I’m not going to pretend to be an expert on wedding music, but will steer you towards Wedding Music, Getting It Right by Mark Parker from thedj.co.uk.
This post was intended to be a collection of my favourite dance pictures of the year – and then I realised that a very large number came from when I was working with the team from thedj.co.uk at Ramster and that this was no accident – so this post is more about what makes for great dance pictures.
In the story of the day the dancing pictures are more and more important …
It’s all about the lighting – I have so many favourites here and have had loads of great feedback about the pictures, but to be honest without the lighting Mark has worked on and developed over the years the pictures would not be anything like as romantic or arresting.
DJ & Wedding Photographer – In Perfect Harmony
At every wedding we work on together we discuss the lighting and do a few test shots – and Mark will make adjustments accordingly, as well as suggesting possible new approaches. I have to say this is a great and welcome contrast to the ‘this is it, take it or leave it’ approach I still sometimes encounter.
Why does this make a difference ? Because if you can capture some dance pictures without flash they will be often be more intimate, subtle and evocative. Interestingly I am increasingly asked to stay on for more than just the first dance – in the story of the day the dancing pictures are more and more important, so discuss it in advance with your photographer and your musicians and/or DJ – they can make a huge difference.
