21/12/20February Wedding at Farbridge

Bess and Dan at Farbridge in February
The year started so well with this gorgeous wedding at Farbridge – Farbridge looked absolutely fabulous styled with Cherry Blossom tress from @tohaveandtohire_weddings. The low sunlight caught the trees beautifully and Bess looked stunning as she wandered amongst them.
After years of photographing weddings in February it’s fair to say the weather can go either way: yes, it can be grey and rainy, but it can also be warm and sunny. I’ve photographed Valentine’s Day weddings where we have been outside whilst there was daylight, and Bess and Dan’s day was one of those gloriously sunny February days when the world seems to come to life again.

The sunshine has two very practical advantages – firstly you can go outside for the fantastic backdrop of the Downs and we had some wonderful moments there in the sun and the wind. The second big advantage is that there’s plenty of light inside to capture those who don’t venture out without flash, which always makes for a more natural reportage and less intrusive style.
The pictures speak for themselves – it was quite simply the happiest of days. I had a great reunion with Dan’s brother and uncle, sometime DJs at Ramster and who were DJs again for this day – and little did any of us know then what was to follow. One or two people mentioned Covid was on the horizon – it turned out that this wedding on the 29th of February would be my only ‘normal’ full size wedding of the year.
Big thanks to all the suppliers involved: to Angel Like Flowers for the great arches and flowers, to Toni Todd and her team for such beautiful hair and makeup, to To Have and To Hire Weddings for the blossom, and last but not least to the amazing team at Farbridge and Simon and the awesome Cuckoo Chefs, I can’t wait for the next time!
