04/11/14Amberley Castle September Wedding – Lucy & Stephen

Lucy and Stephen at Amberley Castle, 1st September 2014
I photographed my first wedding at Amberley Castle in August 1995 and have been going back ever since. As I head towards my twentieth anniversary of photographing there what I really enjoy is the range of weddings I cover.
In an earlier entry you can find Rachael and Eliot’s wedding at Amberley, where there were over a hundred guests and the wedding breakfast was served in a marquee.
Lucy and Stephen’s wedding in some ways couldn’t have been more different – with around a dozen guests they had a very intimate ceremony in the King Charles Room, so called because King Charles did indeed stay there when he was on the run. What I particularly like is the way Lucy and Stephen’s friends and family and so clearly visible behind them – and the smiles on absolutely everybody’s faces.
This was one of the least formal or stuffy weddings I have ever photographed – and one of the happiest
Although it wasn’t the brightest or driest of days we were able to get outside – for some members of the party seeing a train from the Amberley parapets was a very good thing. I’m sure you can spot the moment when he hears a train coming. And note too the performance of the white peacock, a very poplar member of the Amberley team.
This was one of the least formal or stuffy weddings I have ever photographed – and one of the happiest. It truly was a pleasure to be there, thank you Mr. and Mrs. Black.
