Unbelievably the sun shone in Normandy, with long days on the beach, shooting black-and-white film in a Leica and eating too much cheese – quite near to heaven for this photographer and very welcome.

The last weekend in August, the 29th and 30th, had weddings on both days. On the 29th I was photographing Kelly and Dan’s wedding at St.Mary’s, Oatlands, near Weybridge in Surrey. This was quite like going home as it’s the church where my parents got married, where my brother, sisters and I were baptised, and where my sisters got married – very, very familiar. It was a fabulous day, the reception being held at Dan’s parents’ house nearby with a magnificent marquee on the lawn – pictures will follow!
